Windows 8.1: error al abrir archivos .chm
Al dar doble clic en un archivo de ayuda .chm Windows 8.1 lanza un mensaje con una casilla activa que indica "Siempre abrir archivos..." o algo así por el estilo, si dejamos la casilla activada el contenido del archivo no podrá visualizarse. Para evitar este error, sólo debemos desactivar la casilla y tendremos acceso al contenido del archivo.

Si no deseamos utilizar las herramientas propias de Windows, he aquí algunas alternativas para visualizar, leer o editar archivos .chm

Actualizar Samsung Galaxy S4 a Android 6.0

La guía para actualizar el Samsung Galaxy S4 al Android 6.0

Esta guía es para actualizar el Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 vendido como la versión internacional de cuatro núcleos, y que es la versión comercializada en México.

Esta guía es más prometedora:


How To Install I9505XXUHOJ2 Android 5.0.1 Lollipop On Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 Manually

1.     Download Odin v3.09 and I9505XXUHOJ2 (for all countries except carrier locked model) firmware.
2.     Extract Firmware zip file that you downloaded earlier from above link, you will get a .tar.md5 file and some other files (optional).
3.     Extract Odin zip file and you will get Odin3 v3.09.exe along with few other files.
4.     Power off your Android device. Wait 5-6 seconds for vibration to confirm complete switch off.
5.     Now, put the Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 in Download Mode by pressing and holding down the Home & Volume Down button together while pressing the Power button. A warning screen will come up; press Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
6.     Now run Odin3 v3.09.exe (see Step 3) as an Administrator because Admin privileges is required to complete the process smoothly (only applicable Windows Vista and higher).
7.     Now connect your device to your PC using USB cable. An “Added!!” massage will appear in Odin’s message box. If you don’t get the same then you should try another USB port (try USB port located in back in your desktop PC). If that too don’t work then you should reinstall the driver. If you successfully see the “Added!!” message in Odin then you are ready to go in next step. You should also see COM port with a number in Yellow if you successfully added your device.
8.     Click the AP Button, and select that .tar.md5 file that you get in Step 2.
9.     In Odin window, make sure only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected.
10.     Double check everything that we mentioned in Step 8 & Step 9 above. Now, once satisfied hit the START button to begin the flashing process.
11.     Once flashing completed, your Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 will restart and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.

Congrats! You just updated your Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop firmware. Go to Settings > About device to verify this firmware update.

Fix Boot Loop Issue On Galaxy S4 GT-I9505
If Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 stuck at booting animation for more than 10 minutes after Step 11 then follow below instructions:

1.     Go to recovery mode. To do so, press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together.
2.     Now perform Wipe data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition task before selecting reboot system now function. In recovery mode use Volume keys to navigate between options and Power key to select the option.

Please note, performing wiping task will erase your device internal memory data and not external SD card data.

Antes debemos instalar una aplicación de recovery
Para poder instalar la app. de recuperación debemos instalar el software Odin3 v3.x, que será que se puede descargar del siguiente link:

Instrucciones para la instalación del CWM CWM + CWM TOUCH RECOVERY

ClockWorkMod Instructions ClockworkMod recovery is a special boot mode that gives access to administrative functions, such as installing the base firmware (ROM), making backups, and performing a 'factory reset'.

Si es necesario desinstalar el CWM seguir estás instrucciones.

La otra opción es: TWRP disponible aquí. Download twrp-3.0.2-0-jfltexx.img.tar

También existe esta otra opción Philz recovery 6.26.6 (.tar.md5 required) :

Una vez instalado el Recovery se debe hacer un respaldo de la ROM para ello ir al menú backup y seleccionar la opción de backup in external SD, si el programa arroja un mensaje de error referente al path, se puede consultar el siguiente link CWM and Nandroid problems...

Los pasos para la instalación de la nueva versión son:

1. Conecta el Galaxy S4 a la PC utilizando un cable USB y copia el archivo zip a la tarjeta SD externa del teléfono.
2. Desconecta el teléfono del cable USB y apaga el Galaxy S4.
3. Reinicia el teléfono en modo recovery. Para esto debes encender el teléfono y cuando esté iniciando se debe presionar al mismo tiempo los botones Volume Up + Home + Power. Si tienes instalado la aplicación ROM Toolbox Pro o cualquiera similar, se puede indicar que se reinicie el teléfono en modo recovery, para esto ir a Herramientas/Reiniciador/ Reiniciar a Recovery. 
4. Al entrar en modo recovery en ClockworkMod, se muestra un menú con las acciones que se pueden realizar. Realizaremos primeramente un respaldo de nuestro sistema tal como está configurado actualmente, a esto se le llama Nandroid backup. Por lo tanto seleccionamos backup and restore/backup to external SD. Debemos tener al menos 5 Gb de espacio libre en la tarjeta SD. En caso de que nos de un error tipo Can't mount backup path???? entonces tenemos una tarjeta que no está formateada de la forma en que el recovery la entiende mejor. Para corregir esto, lo mejor es utilizar una tarjeta nueva o que podamos formatear desde el mismo teléfono. En caso de que esto no funcione existen estas instrucciones o estas otras que pueden ayudar.
5. Una vez realizado el respaldo, iniciamos el proceso de borrado del sistema actual, para eso en el menú del recovery seleccionamos wipe data / factory resert y confirmamos el proceso.
6. Posteriormente realizamos la limpieza de los datos mediante: recovery menu/wipe data/factory reset y conformamos. 
7. Ahora estamos listos para instalar la nueva ROM, desde el recovery menu, seleccionamos  install zip from SD card y seleccionamos el archivo zip de la ROM correspondiente desde la SD card en este caso: crDroid Android 6.0 Marshmallow custom firmware, confirmamos y flasheamos el proceso.
8. Regresmos al menú principal del recovery y selecciona reboot para reiniciar tu Galaxy S4 I9505 en la nueva ROM. El primer boot toma aproximadamente 5 minutos, ten paciencia.

Una vez con la nueva ROM es necesario activar la red de telefonía, para esto se deben seguir los pasos siguientes (ref.):

1. Ingresa a la “Configuración del smartphone“
2. Dentro de la sección de conexiones inalámbricas y redes, selecciona la opción “Redes Móviles“
3. En esta pantalla deberás de seleccionar la opción “Nombres de Puntos de Acceso“
4. Allí encontrarás todas las APN configuradas en tu equipo smartphone.
5. Si encuentras el APN de Telcel México sólo dale clic. Si no lo encuentras dale clic en el símbolo + que se encuentra en la parte superior derecha para crear el APN.
6. Una vez allí deberás de verificar en el formulario de configuración los siguientes datos, que para el APN Telcel México son los siguientes:
1. Nombre: Telcel 
2. APN: internet.itelcel.com 
3. Nombre de usuario: webgprs 
4. Contraseña: webgprs2002 
5. Tipo de APN: default 
6. MCC: 334 
7. MNC: 020
7. Al finalizar de ingresar los datos requeridos, guarda la configuración y activa la opción “Usar paquete de datos” para activar el acceso a la red de datos para la red móvil. 
8. El siguiente paso es desconectar el Wi-Fi y verificar que puedas conectarte a Internet por medio de la red 3G/4G de Telcel México.
9. En caso no se conecte a Internet, prueba reiniciando tu smartphone

Como las ROM no vienen con las aplicaciones de Google (Gapps) necesarias para funciones básicas, como la descarga de aplicaciones desde la tienda Google Play, debemos descargar e instalar las Gapps correspondientes a la versión Android de la ROM instalada.
En este caso Android 6.0 Marshmallow Gapps for any Android device.

#How to flash Gapps in android Marshmallow via recovery
1.After downloading the appropirate Gapps package Copy it in your in you android (don't extarct it)
2.Now reboot you device into recovery.
3.Now select Install Zip from SD card option.
4.Now navigate and select Gapps zip file where you saved it earlier.
5.Now Flash the file in you android phone.
6.After flashing Restart you device and it will take time in first start up so be patient,
7.You have now successfully installed all Google Apps on Android M 6.0 Marshmallow custom ROM or CM 13 ROM.

Unbootable Scenario #3: Bootloop
If you installed a custom ROM, then a bootloop can be far more severe than on a stock, unmodified device. Bootloops often occur because of a damaged operating system or a malicious app.
    Boot screen continually displays, system does not boot;
    Sometimes occurs after a failed OTA update;
First, try a soft reset. If that fails, try booting the device in Safe Mode. If that fails (or if you don’t have access to Safe Mode), try booting the device up through its bootloader (or recovery) and wiping the cache (if you use Android 4.4 and below, wipe the Dalvik cache as well) and reboot. If that fails, you must employ more drastic methods: Reboot into the bootloader and perform a factory reset. If that fails, the device might require service from a licensed technician.

Configuración de modem y evitar que te roben ancho de banda

Es recomendable cambiar la configuración básica utilizada por los proveedores de internet para incrementar la seguridad de la red y evitar que se roben la señal. A continuación se describe un procedimiento muy sencillo que tiene este fin.
1. Utilizando una PC o Laptop conectada alambricamente al módem, entramos al panel de configuración del mismo a Entrar a la configuración del módem mediante un navegador de internet (IE, Firefox, etc.) en una PC conectada alambicadamente a la red, dirigiéndose a la dirección IP 192.168.1.254
2. Los módems de Telmex mostrarán un menú donde debemos seleccionar la que tiene como enlace WLAN. En otros módems el enlace dirá wifi.
3. La opción canal se debe cambiar a la opción más baja, 1 o 11.
4. Cambiar el nombre de la red
5. Cambiar la clave wifi.
6. Cambiar la seguridad a wpa2-psk.
7. Reiniciar equipo.
